The challenge was great, and here I am sharing a pattern for a toy shark. While it is not the Pink Fong Grandma Shark, it could certainly be easily altered to look more like one by moving the dorsal to the back of the head, using orange yarn instead of grey, and adding glasses.</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYQ2rkklQRItSCcG4kn7zho5pcNNbeimh_pC6O0mcNubuRAC1EgR09MtigW3gKgaHZkqblpqSUIcjLw-ZbJT6UmJSiCeukb6dumVd9A_anqVwvpVb2-48o4aebOs3cdh5wJfLhqQHGvnRHLL24SdVTDa-Y1BBxC4NKfTG9CjPLd_cXdglBg9FRSFaeGIpr/s2560/20230623_194920.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2560" data-original-width="1920" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYQ2rkklQRItSCcG4kn7zho5pcNNbeimh_pC6O0mcNubuRAC1EgR09MtigW3gKgaHZkqblpqSUIcjLw-ZbJT6UmJSiCeukb6dumVd9A_anqVwvpVb2-48o4aebOs3cdh5wJfLhqQHGvnRHLL24SdVTDa-Y1BBxC4NKfTG9CjPLd_cXdglBg9FRSFaeGIpr/s320/20230623_194920.jpg" width="240" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span><p><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: inherit;">Checkout my YouTube tutorials on <a href="https://youtu.be/Be1rAkPV820">Spike Stitch</a> and <a href="https://youtu.be/YWTosKzr7PE">Surface Crochet </a>as both are used in this pattern. </span></p><h1 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Sharp-Toothed Shark Amigurumi Pattern </span></h1><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpkiRi23ynTI0hS11ArlJbfS4s-U6mfd4fPvkuKiZBQLsNzCP9ahGHrliZWtse8l57OVNGEOZghhECbzTpZcLu150UrdOIOqq2rcUa7IU1rkO6Y9-vXvwDuIGYBrxCjzH94_6S4wbHuVILBmqioz_4KwEIQDd2IAcDpbOKtg2dn22W-bMEw_lceDZXjpka/s1351/Screenshots_2023-07-31-14-35-01~2.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><img border="0" data-original-height="764" data-original-width="1351" height="181" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpkiRi23ynTI0hS11ArlJbfS4s-U6mfd4fPvkuKiZBQLsNzCP9ahGHrliZWtse8l57OVNGEOZghhECbzTpZcLu150UrdOIOqq2rcUa7IU1rkO6Y9-vXvwDuIGYBrxCjzH94_6S4wbHuVILBmqioz_4KwEIQDd2IAcDpbOKtg2dn22W-bMEw_lceDZXjpka/s320/Screenshots_2023-07-31-14-35-01~2.png" width="320" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span><h2 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></h2><h2 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Materials</span></h2><div><ul style="text-align: left;"><li><span style="font-family: inherit;">Approximately 1.5oz grey and 1oz white worsted weight yarn (size 4)</span></li><li><span style="font-family: inherit;">Small amount of black and red worsted weight yarn (size 4)</span></li><li><span style="font-family: inherit;">3.25mm crochet hook (you can up to 4.5mm but finished project will be larger)</span></li><li><span style="font-family: inherit;">Yarn needle</span></li><li><span style="font-family: inherit;">Approximately 2oz stuffing</span></li><li><span style="font-family: inherit;">Scissors </span></li></ul><h2 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Abbreviations</span></h2></div><div><ul style="text-align: left;"><li><span style="font-family: inherit;">CH chain stitch</span></li><li><span style="font-family: inherit;">SC single crochet</span></li><li><span style="font-family: inherit;">SC2TOG single crochet 2 stitches together (decrease)</span></li><li><span style="font-family: inherit;">SL ST slip stitch</span></li><li><span style="font-family: inherit;">SP ST spike stitch</span></li></ul><h2 style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Notes</span></h2></div><div><ul style="text-align: left;"><li><span style="font-family: inherit;">This pattern is full of colour changes. I am back after 8 years. I guess once you love a craft, you never really stop. I did have to slow down my crocheting after having my kids. My youngest will be starting school this year and I am excited for a new beginning. <div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjKMJFLYJ22ge7dqQU8hbAVWQTHY5pz2mVC4b9HBlcmdvOCxkm_N-lI98vxynOI2v7nkdWpzK1WtTCPoiXPYrEhUih0pam_C_vkVyk0SnXBh1R1mGzOxMX01FQPPIIUHi302nD2AEUMhuuqAH1Rkw40PdbfMI5PmY-Fi8BsVQvLYmd1FE6Fd7c3wukAYg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">

</div><br /></div><div>I think I will be making some changes and trying out some new ideas. There will be more than amigurumi (crochet toys). Last month I shared my pattern for <strong><a href="http://thesilverhook.blogspot.ca/2015/02/free-pattern-heart-appliques.html">heart appliques</a></strong>. This month I am sharing a pattern for 3 and 4 leafed clovers. This pattern is great for scraps of yarn. Keep reading for the pattern. You can use these clovers to personalize clothing and accessories, or make them in to pins and magnets. </p> <a href="http://thesilverhook.blogspot.com/2015/03/free-pattern-lucky-clover-appliques.html#more"></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8140059993952613816.post-2650388516503864312015-03-06T18:56:00.001-04:002015-03-06T18:56:11.063-04:00A Quartet of Mermaids<p> </p> <p align="left"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-uRO6B7VhPok/VPowQ1Uib8I/AAAAAAAACYQ/OqEiH78JmNk/s1600-h/IMG_18672.jpg"><img title="IMG_1867" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: left; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 0px 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="IMG_1867" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA6FqVCNGXJ3umq_CzrBo4d_QX9te4aNCxnOjCpxQUqQXoXlWpgiprKJplEgT_5AswtIIP1evbEEDAwIsXw8qIisxc2QEt45MkNRcAIIZj8k779vP_xDjRAOu2cYNTSUJEqEepYt1kSqHY//?imgmax=800" width="244" align="left" height="184"></a>Recently I blogged about a <strong><a href="http://thesilverhook.blogspot.ca/2015/01/new-year-new-calm-palette.html">calm colour palette</a></strong>: made up of a blue, pink, purple, and brown yarn. After a busy holiday season, I needed some time to wind down. This week I finished four mermaids inspired by these colours. For Valentine’s Day I decided to use some scrap yarn to make these quick hearts. But I didn’t wait for February 14 to let him play. First there was counting, then hiding, finally throwing. I might also string them into a garland, bracelet, or necklace. Maybe save them to add to mittens or a hat. </p> <p>Enjoy the pattern!</p> <a href="http://thesilverhook.blogspot.com/2015/02/free-pattern-heart-appliques.html#more"></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8140059993952613816.post-31013373740752925672015-01-06T09:26:00.001-04:002015-01-06T09:26:26.926-04:00New Year, New Calm Palette<p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-THSRTOTfx0k/VKviS6bvtWI/AAAAAAAACUo/AFnJMp4b4uQ/s1600-h/IMG_0722%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="IMG_0722" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; float: left; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="IMG_0722" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq6ed_ui0K57jDsB09fSVXBfq6kijEt23bsMU3xARJkdfvxxaX0a7iZ5-uXbkeY8V3vlh3qFgILvVK4vzfOkxE7D4KKRX2AoB8ZqO4hCl39iE08R4PPK6SP18-iUAzXcpJQnHuMGtS8V72//?imgmax=800" width="204" align="left" height="271"></a>Happy New Year everyone! Now that the cold weather has a firm grip on Ottawa and Noah somewhat consistently naps in the afternoon, I am ready to hook. I have some pattern ideas on the back burners, but this week I have been inspired by colour. The holidays were hectic and 2013 was a hard year globally speaking. With the new year, I wanted to feel calm. Temperatures are well below freezing and looking outside, I am surrounded by Winter calm. Between now and December 15th you can save 20% off of everything in my<strong> </strong><a href="http://thesilverhook.etsy.com"><strong>Etsy shop</strong></a><strong>. </strong>This includes all toys, all rattles, all hats, and all blankets! Be sure to use <strong>coupon code: WINTER20</strong>. </p> <p>I’ve been crocheting more than toys lately. With the cooler weather, my toddler has found his love of blankets (<a href="http://thesilverhook.blogspot.ca/2013/05/rainbow-baby-blanket-part-1-color-and.html"><strong>here is a post about the one I made for him while I was pregnant</strong></a>) and now you can find pink/purple, yellow, and burgundy baby blankets in my <strong><a href="http://thesilverhook.etsy.com">Etsy shop</a></strong>. I love the texture and warm that a yarn blanket provides. Each blanket is made in acrylic yarn that is both soft and practical (stain resistant and can be cleaned in the washing machine and dryer). They are sure to last many years, and hopefully be passed down to a second generation.</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-rL2SO3zphKM/VHryC8bkKqI/AAAAAAAACS4/TLcJGOf45GE/s1600-h/DSCN06363.jpg"><img title="DSCN0636" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="DSCN0636" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmQh_jJq8yqByQNzrPv_Ebc1SDCCXufi_3QVJdQnD2HMZ3LlvJIItdpE0hPpKU8Rue6ASGVmNyDtsc5Cb7mZr1NnJhRpvYJbO_ygU6rp65UwaUS6An6YCJ_eQDC63dtn7fDeJwW02Tp4cA//?imgmax=800" width="304" height="229"></a><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-UXH-VevAOEw/VHryOfPZKOI/AAAAAAAACTI/lb46YUhqX1o/s1600-h/DSCN06463.jpg"><img title="DSCN0646" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="DSCN0646" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQtzDURvs8QiY-sXuSF_5W3TXo2uoysTh3ezdLbPX0XgLBJuV_afBLF-U-qK8EGf_81vR4zSL71tuYIfyeFxxQbEguUurpNoGJC5QRb4fA-0l-c6Yp9XQ99CmyVQHDZqS4v5BC51aQ-9vw//?imgmax=800" width="304" height="229"></a><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Dfi89-oo3Ms/VHryUTuNAFI/AAAAAAAACTY/299WsoOBkIo/s1600-h/DSCN06444.jpg"><img title="DSCN0644" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="DSCN0644" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5AYq1wGKjwHwgP2B3O-O4hqm8QWBeNZC5523081tpN95jzczEyh4tmEnIbHdYEntVToKurSZRv1iGXWEPPia1I9GKNzrMX2tfcadSa8HMK4qgQ3XKVqVqIb9E95YzrdqDyfD4PzA3p9gj//?imgmax=800" width="304" height="229"></a></p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8140059993952613816.post-16795902417973377962014-11-21T11:33:00.001-04:002014-11-21T11:33:08.784-04:00Recent Projects–Halloween, Bunny, Mer-folk, Blanket<p> </p> <p>This year for Halloween, I was considering a few different ideas for a toddler costume: Yoda, Pikachu, Monkey, Oscar the Grouch. Lately had been learning animal sounds, and he loved to “buck, buck, buck!”. I made the chicken costume using <a href="http://redheart.com"><strong>Red Heart SuperSaver</strong></a>, acrylic yarn. The buttons added to each feather allows them to be removed and replaced anywhere on the sweater base. The bottom tutu can also be removed. </p> <p> </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-wnt-ouAfGDM/VG9aqNpxpjI/AAAAAAAACRg/YViP5P-Mu0A/s1600-h/DSCN04253.jpg"><img title="DSCN0425" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="DSCN0425" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMsJVIppulxhhwWzKaC6elmEHuX2nNAh-Ixf_uhTUj7CnE15GwSSVMhAZr-DHAmNS6vrePaldkE4M11XN_6mCwTBzp9283qV3aeAUTGTQTn87tADGbh1PSCAbjUuyCrK4nkhG14OnvBQUB//?imgmax=800" width="229" height="304"></a><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-H4JOC1gBFOM/VG9azXlwF2I/AAAAAAAACRw/mgb7qkl8sjw/s1600-h/DSCN04283.jpg"><img title="DSCN0428" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="DSCN0428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcwFHpVd16UzzLTjI8bg7Lf0KQ4pPbQ28WwdRQvO2rTS4csD-GR6PnVNM7o0L2uxRkhVnpObv1EeEQkdY3-u53-2kksyd2GmU1vvaGpf6INjFqBon-0R3yukqIjnjI4yKS9ZIBm104K090//?imgmax=800" width="229" height="304"></a></p> <p>Once in a while, I find a few hours to myself to work on rattle orders. When Noah was younger, it was difficult to work on <strong><a href="http://thesilverhook.etsy.com">toys</a>. </strong>Blankets require less concentration than the shaping that goes into toys. Plus, I recently received my large yarn order for the year, and I want to clear some space in my crochet studio. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-pbDJWLyc5x8/Ujoah6rTm3I/AAAAAAAACQg/OuprSowrdMk/s1600-h/IMG_81693.jpg"><img title="IMG_8169" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="IMG_8169" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsIbSyOHq1iKCaXQ8lShqOUgFAERGH8Ar2b72Z2Ezpvhg-fcAdwkgUcCjXuqvvujKi-_AOFxI3WytLe7K0ovBmmXfwEjvFcAnLzghaM_5e7sNq1k8B6xcxNAfHKR2z6tkyBV9x1jVjXEDf//?imgmax=800" width="229" height="304"></a><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-JJjMfIAvkuI/UjoanyexNYI/AAAAAAAACQw/pJ91aOT8KwA/s1600-h/IMG_81703.jpg"><img title="IMG_8170" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="IMG_8170" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi__SarimZjiDRmKeDfoJt6UsGvTkk2w3Cw6onsW785PZw7R-xsM6GPpFI5rCT8ImILrYCafTsXVeZF7xRaIe6BXNyQW45IIlsM9vzfFPFT7BTVBO7hpurC7SAfsD5j5vuQkYZxQhiaNaUC//?imgmax=800" width="404" height="304"></a></p> <p> </p> <a href="http://thesilverhook.blogspot.com/2013/09/wip-wednesday-ripple-baby-blanket.html#more"></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8140059993952613816.post-55572894563818249112013-09-16T17:06:00.001-03:002013-09-16T17:06:01.517-03:00Monday Musings: Back to Work<p> </p> <p>As I mentioned in my <a href="http://thesilverhook.blogspot.ca/2013/07/buffer-app-increase-in-social-media.html">previous post</a><strong></strong>, I took a break from <strong><a href="http://thesilverhook.etsy.com">The Silver Hook</a> </strong>in August for a family vacation in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Long car travel with a 4 month old baby (and a pair of cats) was a learning experience, but the whole trip was fantastic. We climbed a <strong><a href="http://parcsugarloafpark.ca">mountain</a></strong>, went swimming in the ocean, did a little <strong><a href="http://www.geocaching.com">geocaching</a></strong>, visited <strong><a href="http://www.fortressoflouisbourg.ca">The Fortress of Louisbourg</a> </strong>and <strong><a href="http://www.villagehistoriqueacadien.com/">Village Historique Acadien</a></strong>. Below are pictures from Village Historique Acadien: a woman using a drop spindle to spin wool and some naturally dyed wool yarn.</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-4hVS-wOfXIk/UjdkeDh6bJI/AAAAAAAACPY/LOWOvFjFyuM/s1600-h/IMG_73753.jpg"><img title="IMG_7375" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="IMG_7375" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzUCUVlj8E9cPQycHhNLtokWHre39vd9PDWL_aiHFLRQ-YpuCOqpKgddo5RlM0zN7YGEjYDWQiN6eMLkjCF-smr1cIHXBRqaMaImjXYZv70SlDZDI798_HGIWqMRlNpyhyFzhnMqi75zCi//?imgmax=800" width="229" height="304"></a><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-LW-vRFSHazs/Ujdkj7mXjVI/AAAAAAAACPo/ud3CKwATQk0/s1600-h/IMG_73683.jpg"><img title="IMG_7368" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="IMG_7368" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn6_OVPH2XGZkbz22K5bUk0mhx6fsSq0N0gR3wv9txgGHw9yrny_knWMQhx6EiwqRKVevi8EGR9tsgsWo2r402weLOCi3vMGupX-3jmYKMWW2NeQi6kxmRSa2APr9IiELYfvJJOLs9TaWr//?imgmax=800" width="404" height="304"></a></p> <a href="http://thesilverhook.blogspot.com/2013/09/monday-musings-back-to-work.html#more"></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8140059993952613816.post-40275984651432205462013-07-23T18:23:00.001-03:002013-07-24T21:27:50.665-03:00Buffer App: An Increase in Social Media<br>

If you follow my<strong> </strong><a href="http://www.facebook.com/thesilverhook"><strong>Facebook Page</strong></a> or <strong><a href="http://twitter.com/TheSilverHookca">my Twitter account</a></strong>, you might have noticed that I have been posting often an regularly. For years I’ve been using <strong><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS">RSS</a></strong> feeds to follow an assortment of crafting, crocheting, finance, and news websites. With many hours being spent nursing my baby, I have had lots of time to spend on <a href="http://www.feedly.com/">Feedly</a><strong></strong> (I used to use <strong>Google Reader </strong>before it ended last month). <br>

Graduating with two science degrees, I had a near impossible time finding employment “in my field”. When I was having trouble finding employment, I took a step back and thought about what I loved. I was always creative and crafty. I love observing and figuring things out. Looking back, it isn’t too much of a surprise that I am a professional crocheter and designer. Through the years, I have met many talented creative people with similar stories. Below I detail how to find shops in a specific location on <strong><a href="http://etsy.com">Etsy</a>.</strong></p> <a href="http://thesilverhook.blogspot.com/2013/07/happy-canada-day-shop-locations-on-etsy.html#more"></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8140059993952613816.post-24313030912951656022013-06-11T14:07:00.001-03:002013-06-11T14:07:28.646-03:00May Flowers and Other Inspiration<p> </p> <p>I love the time of year when the snow has melted and the early leaves and flowers are opening. </p> <p>I often mail my<strong> <a href="http://thesilverhook.etsy.com">Etsy</a> </strong>orders early in the morning before the daily mail pick up. The mailbox is not very far away and I often extend my walk along my neighbourhood. These pictures are from early May. I love the shapes and architecture of trees.</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-hN4CvoHHqIE/UbdYyxO1XdI/AAAAAAAACMI/LoHqZftDOn8/s1600-h/IMG_43013.jpg"><img title="IMG_4301" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="IMG_4301" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVpv-RVSk5uOCMibELguoYXem3WlA-zh7rYpycQlVy5GgobPqqG2KOTLSPX2VesyKUtVVTPvJCqPydoX3ceDQEsyvnBVnV1Agzx38XysgUoMIqaoNZimWR5vk5pO0S4KMaY4gVBAuvBx_Q//?imgmax=800" width="304" height="229"></a><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Spuwt0k4YF0/UbdY6lt5KAI/AAAAAAAACMY/8SXnPWaWaHg/s1600-h/IMG_43363.jpg"><img title="IMG_4336" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="IMG_4336" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8sVJWI9AronbCkjsh68DUCGEQ1xZX2r64Qd_xd83xKPkRSAX_871BMo18_9nVgtYgRBa8zMyXA8rdQ55k5cG3R_vfA6uz61VDToyXenUFzl-7GHXgeN6aGUpVR9V-wex9wzCfR_Qcnhz4//?imgmax=800" width="304" height="229"></a><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-SpmEAsqEORU/UbdZBZydIAI/AAAAAAAACMo/PVukL7hOxyc/s1600-h/IMG_4449%25255B1%25255D.jpg"><img title="IMG_4449" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="IMG_4449" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit3LX7qYQ8h_bggfowDE-31p4RCIVpYtE3QFLoFDsBBosIl_ZPnvpkLnW1PlGYSR8YAfsRucnnW981K2yhRaOLAwCKQWDTkpRtI6XAEbuuEOwO3wwiVaAWHpayz3B0o1kmCTgE5MPG8Rwr//?imgmax=800" width="304" height="229"></a></p> <p align="left"></p> <a href="http://thesilverhook.blogspot.com/2013/06/may-flowers-and-other-inspiration.html#more"></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8140059993952613816.post-42714025087745065642013-06-05T08:20:00.001-03:002013-06-05T20:08:21.378-03:00Crochet One-Skein Wonders–I’ve Been Published!<p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-nOZYZsa2pGY/Ua8e3EOWdjI/AAAAAAAACLg/prqlRM5besk/s1600-h/IMG_49799.jpg"><img title="IMG_4979" style="border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: left; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px 30px 0px 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px" border="0" alt="IMG_4979" align="left" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEd9GaRUA_beIQkAk9tlR8VNBHAF5a-pR05K4ytXjb1KT3MXUcFeXcmfm5JQcPrXPxHmUv5ZX6tjR1kFaZZO3HYatDl1WfOdWWP_PZgqYfzHBgGyL0A0YMP-xeAC3JqKd_FUX4CAuIlU3I//?imgmax=800" width="304" height="404"></a>Big, exciting news – I have a pattern published in <a href="http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/crochet-one-skein-wonders-durant-judith/1115199729?ean=9781612120423">Crochet One-Skein Wonders – 101 Projects from Crocheters Around the World</a><strong></strong>. I finished it a few days after my son was born. Both he and my cats (that’s Nike in the picture) enjoy hanging out on the blanket. This and the next blog post are about the decisions made during the designing of this blanket. This post is about the colours and yarn, and part 2 is all about the blanket size and design.</p> <a href="http://thesilverhook.blogspot.com/2013/05/rainbow-baby-blanket-part-1-color-and.html#more"></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8140059993952613816.post-5773386322253200822013-05-08T13:48:00.001-03:002013-05-08T13:48:31.077-03:00Welcoming the Newest Member of The Silver Hook<p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-qv-2rnMLvcs/UYqBxZG0ubI/AAAAAAAACIc/FREySkvApLY/s1600-h/IMG_1200%25255B24%25255D.jpg"><img title="IMG_1200" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; float: left; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px 24px 0px 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="IMG_1200" align="left" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXW1xleemPWV5E68Pt9D0jWBYbajd9jAsn0Nw7i-vZQS3lVu3XV-wxO-VH0kN-B2hJcQdvxDV8z83KuzvoQkylBBoPYCfZPK5SSHyJAB9m-5l-6C2MGm9ZA_aK0P7Clf2Wh4lfkKjuySZ8//?imgmax=800" width="204" height="271"></a></p> <p>I haven’t been posting much lately, but I’ve been a bit busy with Noah, our new product tester and model. He was born April 8th at 9:15pm via Caesarean section, weighing in at 9lbs 11oz. A big baby, but less than the predicted 10.5lbs! I always heard that parents of newborns are sleep deprived, but I now <em>understand.</em></p> <p>The sling that I am wearing in the side picture has been wonderful. It keeps my hands free so I can hopefully return to a little crocheting soon. He loves carriers and we have found them to be the most reliable soothing method. I bought my ring sling carrier from <strong><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/BabyEtte">BabyEtte on Etsy</a></strong>.</p> <p>He has already begun his toy testing with a little nibble on an elephant trunk. He also enjoys staring at the bright colours and stitch pattern of his rainbow ripple baby blanket. </p> <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbKfaca0KHg-O7LvyaUHhtfa59JlOcJ7-Erqry00wqa7XTitFHwov2S_fcQgH3yrBrLwko2BK_cTaYKjrJ7p3fIAqV2L0cr4Zh_xli_GsNCOAvLf2IW7pywHjUaSWKOVepejCt3UceQnGN/s1600-h/IMG_1031%25255B22%25255D.jpg"><img title="IMG_1031" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="IMG_1031" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcaIw56vuia2waiDpfElnrBqYjGUK8D4pKXR0m4Y2IFAHbolzOWXy3MVxeSU6H8d-JGMC3vG7k58zjS9KbIx1_SOzdHRGWefvyKKPB6f868z1Q4HObkGzZyjZBqmIRw8uAgvRvBzZ67ABf//?imgmax=800" width="271" height="204"></a><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-417ROYZWF50/UYqB2XtsTEI/AAAAAAAACI8/WpkMBqyU9pk/s1600-h/IMG_1113%25255B26%25255D.jpg"><img title="IMG_1113" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="IMG_1113" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXXY4MFFu6jETuQap7cfv1wLaz32oIlFKncpegIRA9ypKjm-x4rQAAdM2YfDIn55nGP9tSIY3Tu3Nl_-jWDs8iQufRIX28ID7gp1yQ1pp1FuAlmFa2yeqjGL8aFUHKfIUE4zdX1-u89Jzt//?imgmax=800" width="271" height="204"></a></p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8140059993952613816.post-24918214262618151652013-03-27T12:43:00.001-03:002013-03-27T12:43:13.087-03:00Extra Love with Hearts<p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-psGiz-2JUW8/UVMTekd4q1I/AAAAAAAACHc/vKZHe7Z3pDs/s1600-h/IMG_3254%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 25px 0px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="IMG_3254" border="0" alt="IMG_3254" align="left" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqocwvIFM_yhRJ5V1keyDgX8iXziWhfL_plhxV5nbOIg7t_hlvsxlticuU8bk-STFgAS1bLy4zE2UfpzpBj6Vt5kQ0dcsVbH4M389dSPmcTK2QZ3d98ApgOAsAlyiGHbAkmXvZNe4eJEMz//?imgmax=800" width="404" height="304"></a>Every yarn crafter eventually winds up with a large stash of yarn odds and ends. If they are natural fibres like cotton or wool, you can cut up leftover yarn into strands, stuff them into a perforated bag (like an onion bag), and hang outside. Birds will grab strands for their nests. </p> <p>With my odd balls of acrylic yarn,<strong><em> I wanted to make something that would be cute, work up quickly, and could be added to orders.</em></strong> Hearts show the love! I have been making them in all different sizes. I’m not sure what people are doing with these hearts, but I’m happy if they create a smile or two.
