Huggable Heart Amigurumi

 

After having recently designed a cloud and star, a Huggable Heart just makes sense.

Approximate size 18cm or 7 inches across

Materials

• 1.5oz worsted weight (size 4) red yarn
• About 12 inches of black and pink yarn
• 2oz stuffing such as polyfill
• 3.25mm (size D) crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Stitch marker or scrap of yarn
• Scissors

Notes

This pattern in worked in a spiral, so you do not join rounds. Stitch counts are given at the end of each round. I use a scrap of yarn as a stitch marker at the end of rounds.

I like to work amigurumi with a lot of tension on my yarn. You can also use a smaller hook, but it may affect final size.

SC2TOG - I like to do an invisible SC2TOG. Insert hook in front loop of each of the next two stitches. Yarn over, pull up loop leaving 2 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through both loops

When stuffing, stuff each bump individually. I like to stuff twice. Once around round 20 and again before sewing closed.

1. CH 2, 6 SC in 2nd CH from hook (6 sts)
2. 2 SC in each st (12 sts)
3. *SC in st, 2 SC in next st* 6 times (18 sts)
4. *SC in 2 sts, 2 SC in next st* 6 time (24 sts)
5. *SC in 3 sts, 2 SC in next st* 6 times (30 sts)
6. *SC in 4 sts, 2 SC in next st* 6 times (36 sts)

9. -12 SC in each st for 4 rounds. For first bump fasten off. For second bump hold the first bump in front and SC through the double thickness for 6 sts, or sew the two bumps together over 6 sts.
