After creating the Cute and Cuddly Cloud Amigurumi Pattern, my kids next requested a cute star toy: Squish Star Amigurumi.

Squishy Star Amigurumi Pattern

Approximate size 15cm or 6 inches

Materials

1oz worsted weight (size 4) yarn in yellow

About 12 inches of black and pink yarn

1.5oz stuffing such as polyfill

3.25mm (size D) crochet hook

Yarn needle

Stitch marker or scrap of yarn

Scissors

Abbreviations

CH chain stitch

SC single crochet

SC2TOG single crochet 2 stitches together

ST stitch

STS stitches

Notes

This pattern in worked in a spiral, so you do not join rounds. Stitch counts are given at the end of each round. I use a scrap of yarn as a stitch marker at the end of rounds.

I like to work amigurumi with a lot of tension on my yarn. You can also use a smaller hook, but it may affect final size.

SC2TOG - I like to do an invisible SC2TOG. Insert hook in front loop of each of the next two stitches. Yarn over, pull up loop leaving 2 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through both loops

When stuffing, stuff each point individually. I like to stuff around round 5 of the second repeat in the body.

Make 5. 

***You can join them as you go by crocheting (hold the previous one in front of the working piece and SC  in 4 sts through both thicknesses. Or you can whip stitch them together through 4 sts using the leftover yarn tail from fastening off.

1. CH 2, 6 SC in 2nd CH from hook (6 sts)
2. *SC in st, 2 SC in next st* 3 times (9 sts)
3. *SC in 2 sts, 2 SC in next st * 3 times (12 sts)
4. *SC in 3 sts, 2 SC in next st* 3 times (15 sts)
5. *SC in 4 sts, 2 SC in next st* 3 times (18 sts)
6. *SC in 5 sts, 2 SC in next st* 3 times ((21 sts).
7. *SC in 6 sts, 2 SC in next st* 3 times (24 sts)
8. - 10 SC in each st for 3 rounds. Fasten off. ***See note above 

Body

The Body is made from decreasing on each side. Complete the instructions below once in each side. Stuff when completing the second side and after round 4 or 5.

1. Omitting any stitches used to join the points together, and beginning where two points join, *SC2TOG, SC in 6 sts* 5 times (35 sts)
2. *SC2TOG, SC in 5 sts* 5 times (30 sts)
3. *SC2TOG, SC in 4 sts* 5 times (25 sts)
4. *SC2TOG, SC in 3 sts* 5 times (20 sts)
5. *SC2TOG, SC in 2 sts* 5 times (15 sts)
6. *SC2TOG, SC in next st* 5 times (10 sts)
7. SC2TOG 5 times (5 sts). Fasten off and sew closed.

Finishing Touches

Sew on the face or any embellishments. Tuck any task ends into the body.
