Puff Sleeve Doll Dress for Baby Alive

 I have been doing more and more crocheting lately. My preschooler has bluntly told me that she wants more doll dresses. This dress was designed for her Baby Alive doll, but also fits a few similarity sized dolls. The dress.can be started with a chain or foundation single crochet (here is a tutorial)

Puff Sleeve Doll Dress




Materials

  • About 2 oz of worsted weight yarn
  • 5.5mm crochet hook
  • 10-20 mm diameter button
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors 

Abbreviations

  • CH chain
  • DC double crochet
  • SC single crochet
  • SC2TOG single crochet 2 together - (insert hook in next st, draw up loop) twice (3 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through all 3 loops
  • SC3TOG single crochet 3 together - (insert hook in next stitch, draw up loop) 3 times (4 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through all 4 loops.
  • SL ST slip stitch
  • ST/S stitch/es

Pattern


Bodice

  1. Foundation Single Crochet 27 sts, or CH 28 and starting with the 2nd CH from hook, SC in each st (27 sts).
  2. CH 1, turn. SC in each st
  3. Repeat row 2
  4. CH 1, turn. SC in 5 sts, CH 8, skip 3 sts, SC in 11 sts CH 8, skip 3 sts, SC in 5 sts (37 sts)
  5. CH 1, turn. SC in 3 sts, SC3TOG over the next 2 SC and CH sts, SC in 6 CH sts, SC3TOG over the next CH and 2 SC sts, SC in 7 sts, SC3TOG, SC in 6 CH sts, SC3TOG, SC in 3 sts (29 sts)
  6. SC in 2 sts, SC2TOG, SC in 5 sts, SC2TOG, SC in 6 sts, SC2TOG, SC in 5 sts, SC2TOG, SC in 3sts (25 sts)
  7. CH 6 and attach to end of row 4 to form button hole

Sleeves - repeat on both sides, worked in rounds

  1. SL ST in middle st of the skipped stitches in row 4, SL ST in next st. In the 8 unused loops of the armhole chain: (SC, DC) in st, 2 DC in each of the next 6 sts, (DC, SC) in next st. In the last of the skipped sts from row 4, SL ST
  2. SL ST in 2 sts, DC in 16 sts, SL ST in next st
  3. Repeat round 3
  4. SL ST in 2 sts, SC2TOG 8 times, SL ST in next st. 
  5. *SC, CH 1, SC* in each st. SL ST in first st. Fasten off. 

Skirt

  1. Working in the bottom of the foundation single crochet or the unused loops from row 1 of the bodice: 2 SC in each st (54 sts)
  2. CH 3, turn. SC in each ST, SL ST in first st and continue working in the round
  3. Repeat round 2
  4. Repeat round 2
  5. Repeat round 2
  6. Repeat round 2
  7. *SC, CH 1, SC* in each st. SL ST in first st. Fasten off
